One of the most exciting aspects of an NHL season is the Calder watch. Of course, the Calder is the trophy awarded to the league’s top rookie, and this year the battle is more intense than ever. With high praise already going to handful of prospects, including forwrds Nail Yakupov, Vladmir Tarasenko, Alex Galchenyuk, Cory Conacher and defenseman, Justin Schultz, the biggest surprise among rookies of the young season has to be Anaheim Ducks goaltender, Viktor Fasth. Leading the NHL in wins, with 8, 6th in GAA, 1.78, and 8th in Sv%, .933, the Ducks young goaltender has been a big reason why Anaheim sits second in the NHL with a record 12-2-1. Although the Ducks have a very talented roster, it has been this standout rookie who has been giving Anaheim a leg up and Fasth who has been making a case for rookie of the year.
